Regular Season Round 7: OKK Beograd - Vrsac 95-89

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Vrsac (2-5) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked OKK Beograd (4-3) 95-89 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-20. But Vrsac won second period 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. OKK Beograd made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Vrsac was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Vuk Malidzan (193-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. Swingman Dragan Mitrovic (200-85) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side Dejan Davidovac (202-95) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and power forward Dragan Apic (206-95) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Five OKK Beograd and four Vrsac players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for OKK Beograd. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Vrsac keeps the seventh position with five games lost. OKK Beograd will face Spartak (#5) in Subotica in the next round. Vrsac will play at home against Napredak Rubin and hope to win that game.
