Regular Season Round 8: Univ.Cluj - Craiova 62-76

Bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-62 loss to eighth ranked Craiova (4-3) in Cluj. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova. Univ.Cluj was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Univ.Cluj 39-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Craiova brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Serbian power forward Zoran Krstanovic (204-82) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian power forward Milivoje Bozovic (210-85, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA) replied with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and swingman Nicolae Foalea (192-92) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Univ.Cluj. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Craiova moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Univ.Cluj still closes the standings with eight games lost. Craiova will play against higher ranked Ploiesti (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Univ.Cluj will play against the league's second-placed Pitesti (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
