Regular Season Round 9: Itzehoe - Braunschweig 74-70

Very important is a road loss of third ranked DRUFF! (6-4) against fourth ranked Itzehoe (7-3) on Saturday night. Visiting DRUFF! was defeated by Itzehoe in a tough game in Itzehoe 70-74. It was a key game for the top position in Group North. American swingman Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Yannick Evans (202-86) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds. Dominique Johnson (194-92, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with 29 points and 9 rebounds and center Ole Angerstein (208-95) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for DRUFF! in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Itzehoe have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of Group North leader, which they share with Rist Wedel and Rostock EBC. DRUFF! at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. Itzehoe will play against league's second-placed Rostock EBC on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. DRUFF! will play against the league's leader SC Rist Wedel and hopes to get back on the winning track.
