Liga Feminina top team - CAB Madeira (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Academico FC (1-6) in Funchal 102-49. The game without a history. CAB Madeira led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Academico FC's 32. CAB Madeira forced 28 Academico FC turnovers and outrebounded them 41-23 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. CAB Madeira players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Academico FC's players. It was a quality performance for American forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Her fellow American import forward Ashley Bruner (183, college: S.Carolina, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Marion Mazer came up with 8 points and 6 rebounds and Vanessa Soares added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Academico FC in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CAB Madeira have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record, which they share with Lombos Quinta. Academico FC lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Lousada. CAB Madeira will play against Lousada (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academico FC will play against Benfica to get more than just one victory in their record.
