Regular Season Round 9: Fortuna - Jaunieji Talentai 87-58

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Fortuna (5-4) crushed 7th ranked Jaunieji Talentai (2-7) in Klaipeda 87-58 on Saturday. The game without a history. Fortuna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Fortuna outrebounded Jaunieji Talentai 45-32 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) nailed 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Fortuna players scored in double figures. Laura Juskaite (186-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Gabija Meskonyte (178-98) added 12 points and 4 steals respectively for Jaunieji Talentai in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fortuna maintains fifth place with 5-4 record. Loser Jaunieji Talentai dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with H-Sirenos. Fortuna will meet at home higher ranked Kibirkstis-VICI (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jaunieji Talentai will play against Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
