Regular Season Round 7: Usak - Selcuk Univ. 82-86

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Selcuk Universitesi and 10th ranked Usak had identical 3-3 record. But Usak was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Konya 86-82 on Sunday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-21. But Usak won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) fired 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Selcuk Universitesi players scored in double figures. Forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Chris Warren (178-88, college: Mississippi) added 25 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Selcuk Universitesi (4-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Karsiyaka and Besiktas. Loser Usak dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Selcuk Universitesi will meet at home league's second-placed Banvit BK in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Usak will play against Anadolu Efes (#3) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
