Regular Season Round 12: Zepter Vienna - Oberwart 95-94

Eighth-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (5-7) was very close to win a game against second ranked Zepter Vienna (10-2) in Wien on Sunday. Zepter Vienna managed to secure only one-point victory 95-94. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Redwell Gunners Oberwart won third quarter 29-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zepter Vienna made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Redwell Gunners Oberwart turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Redwell Gunners Oberwart helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) who saved his team from a defeat with 30 points and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). The former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 27 points for the winners. American swingman J.J. Mann (198-91, college: Belmont) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Gabe Knutson (206-91, college: Lehigh) added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Redwell Gunners Oberwart. Four Redwell Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. Zepter Vienna have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Gmunden. Redwell Gunners Oberwart at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Zepter Vienna is looking forward to face UBSC Graz (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play against Xion Dukes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
