Regular Season Round 11: Nuernberg - Giessen 46ers 82-85

Everything could happen in Nurnberg at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Giessen 46ers and 6th ranked Nuernberg had identical 6-4 record. But Nuernberg was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Giessen 85-82 on Sunday night. Nuernberg cut a 14-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Giessen 46ers made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Cuban swingman Yorman Polas (192-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Cameron Wells (186-88, college: Citadel) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Erik Land (205-90) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) added 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Nuernberg. Five Giessen 46ers and four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers (7-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Gotha and Heidelberg. Nuernberg at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Giessen 46ers will face Finke Baskets (#10) in Paderborn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nuernberg will play on the road against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
