Regular Season Round 5: Botas - Hatay 72-65

Bottom-ranked Hatay is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Botas (3-2) 72-65. It looked good early as Hatay took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Botas had a 20-8 second period charge getting the lead and Hatay was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-72. Botas made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American-Armenian swingman Quianna Chaney (180-86, college: LSU) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Botas players scored in double figures. American center Lynetta Kizer (193-90, college: Maryland) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Spanish point guard Sandra Ygueravide (172-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 20 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Botas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Besiktas and Istanbul Univ. Hatay lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Osmaniye. Botas will play against Mersin (#7) on the road in the next round. Hatay will play against Orduspor (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
