Regular Season Round 10: Fortuna - Kibirkstis-VICI 68-65

Important game to mention about took place in Klaipeda. Fifth ranked Fortuna (6-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Kibirkstis-VICI (6-4) 68-65 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kibirkstis-VICI. It looked good early as Kibirkstis-VICI took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fortuna had a 24-12 second period charge getting the lead and Kibirkstis-VICI was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-68. International swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) notched 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and international Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) supported her with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by forward Ieva Simkute (191-89) did not help to save the game for Kibirkstis-VICI. Justina Kraujunaite (174-95) added 8 points and 8 assists for lost side. Fortuna moved-up to third place, which they share with Aistes-LSU and Kibirkstis-VICI. Fortuna will play against league's second-placed Suduva in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kibirkstis-VICI will play on the road against Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
