There was no surprise when 11th ranked Halychyna (1-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Mykolaiv (7-4) 68-56 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 36-22 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Mykolaiv outrebounded Halychyna 48-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard David Downs (188, college: Seattle Pacific, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 assists and the former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90) who added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Belarusian point guard Oleksandr Dolenko (191-90) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mykolaiv moved-up to third place, which they share with Cherkasy. Loser Halychyna stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Mykolaiv will meet at home Hoverla (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Halychyna will play against Ferro-ZNTU in Zaporozhye and hope to win that game.
