Regular Season Round 10: Hagen Phoenix - Opladen 60-70

Everything went according to plan when second ranked SG BBZ Opladen (8-2) beat on the road 10th ranked Hagen Phoenix (2-8) 70-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SG BBZ Opladen. Hagen Phoenix was better in third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SG BBZ Opladen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen Phoenix's 30. American guard Nicole Nesbit (165-92, college: UCSB) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Mareike Nettersheim (186) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four SG BBZ Opladen players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Kathrin Schlatt (174-91) responded with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Sophia Muecke (168-90) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SG BBZ Opladen have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position in North with 8-2 record behind leader Osnabruck. Hagen Phoenix lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will face Braunschweig (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Hagen Phoenix will play against Zehlendorf in Berlin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
