Regular Season Round 5: VolinBasket - Khimik-2 78-81

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Higher League took place in Lutsk. This game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked VolinBasket (1-6) to third ranked Khimik-2 (5-2) 81-78 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But VolinBasket won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Illya Sidorov (184-96) stepped up and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Oleg Goncharov (193-94) chipped in 17 points. Khimik-2's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Andriy Kobets (192-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists and power forward Vitaly Vintoniak (201-93) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik-2 moved-up to second place, which they share with Zaporozhye. VolinBasket at the other side stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Khimik-2 is looking forward to face Avantazh-Politekhnik (#4) in Kharkov in the next round. VolinBasket will play on the road against Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
