Regular Season Round 15: Dzukija - Juventus 57-59

The most exciting game of round 15 in the LKL took place in Alytus. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Dzukija (7-8) to fourth ranked Juventus (10-3) 59-57 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 10-5. But Dzukija won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Juventus dominated on the defensive end, holding Dzukija to just 5 points in first quarter. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Juventus made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American-Samoan point guard Rashaun Broadus (180-84, college: BYU) who scored 21 points. Power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (208-89, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 4 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) who recorded 10 points and American guard Michael Dixon (185-90, college: Memphis) added 3 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juventus have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-3 record. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Juventus are looking forward to face higher ranked Neptunas (#3) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dzukija will have a break next round.
