There was a surprise result in Ankara where fifteenth ranked Mamak DSI (3-6) defeated higher ranked Final Genclik (3-6) 73-66 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-13. But Final Genclik won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Final Genclik was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Lamar Karim (178-83, college: So.Poly State) who scored 16 points and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The former international swingman Rifat Murat Kaya (194-84, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Four Mamak DSI players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) added 25 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Final Genclik's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mamak DSI moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Final Genclik. Mamak DSI will face higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
