Regular Season Round 12: Chemnitz - Jena 76-67

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Science City Jena (6-6) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (6-6) 76-67 on Saturday. BV Chemnitz 99 made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Science City Jena turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Levi Knutson (191-88, college: Colorado, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 15 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The other American import point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Panamanian-American forward Jordan Henriquez (214-89, college: Kansas St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and forward Julius Wolf (202-93, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BV Chemnitz 99 have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Science City Jena. Science City Jena lost third consecutive game. BV Chemnitz 99 will meet higher ranked Hamburg (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Science City Jena will play against Oettinger Rockets Gotha and hope to secure a win.
