The game in Angra supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Benfica (5-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Lusitania (3-3). Benfica smashed Lusitania 86-53 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lusitania. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. Lusitania managed to win third quarter 23-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lusitania to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Benfica forced 19 Lusitania turnovers and outrebounded them 40-25 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Jobey Thomas (194-80, college: Charlotte) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists during the contest. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward Willis Hall (198-90, college: Charleston, agency: Court Side) with 15 points and 9 rebounds and forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Benfica have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion used an opportunity after Barcelos lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Lusitania dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
