There was an upset when higher ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (7-3) lost to fourteenth ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (4-7) in Weissenfels 62-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Deutsche Bank Skyliners led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 62.5 percent from the field. Deutsche Bank Skyliners outrebounded Mitteldeutscher BC 26-12 including a 20-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. International center Johannes Voigtmann (210-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Quantez Robertson (188-84, college: Auburn) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Robertson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Deutsche Bank Skyliners players scored in double figures. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: KMG Sports Management) answered with 13 points and Icelandic guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (190-88) added 9 points in the effort for Mitteldeutscher BC. Deutsche Bank Skyliners moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Bremerhaven. Loser Mitteldeutscher BC keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will face Braunschweig (#14) in Braunschweig in the next round. Mitteldeutscher BC will play on the road against BBC Bayreuth (#9) and hope to win that game.
