We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Oldenburg (4-7) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Hertener Loewen (4-6) 100-87 on Saturday. Hertener Loewen looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-91, college: NW Missouri St.) fired 24 points for the winners. The other American import forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Hertener Loewen's coach Majdi Shaladi used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Preston Wynne (184-87, college: Vanguard) produced 25 points and 7 assists and power forward Leo Niebuhr (208-86, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hertener Loewen moved-up to ninth place in Group North. Loser Oldenburg keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Hertener Loewen will face higher ranked Itzehoe (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Oldenburg will play against Titans (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
