Regular Season Round 11: Halle - BG 89 Avides 56-82

Date: November 29, 2014
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (6-5) smashed on the road 4th placed SV Halle Lions (7-4) 82-56. The game without a history. Rotenburg/Scheessel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The game was also dominated by American players. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Kierra Mallard (190-90, college: Texas Tech) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Janae Young (183-87, college: Pacific) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Power forward Mekia Valentine (193-88, college: UCSB) came up with 8 points and 9 rebounds and guard Jasmine Newsome (168-91, college: Tenn-Martin) added 14 points respectively for SV Halle Lions in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rotenburg/Scheessel moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Donau-Ries. SV Halle Lions at the other side keep the fourth position with four games lost. Rotenburg/Scheessel's next round opponent will be Rhein Main Baskets (#10) in Langen which should be theoretically another easy game. SV Halle Lions will play at home against the league's second-placed TV Saarlouis Royals (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
