Telekom Baskets (#8) forced the game against Bayern Muenchen (#2) into an overtime, but lost by five points 107-112 on Sunday night. Telekom Baskets were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 16-15 charge of Bayern Muenchen, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-11. Bayern Muenchen outrebounded Telekom Baskets 36-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Bayern Muenchen especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Telekom Baskets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American-FYR Macedonian point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 assists and 5 steals. Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Richard McConnell (189-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Lithuanian forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Telekom Baskets. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-2 record behind leader ALBA. Telekom Baskets at the other side keep the eighth position with four games lost. Bayern Muenchen will face TBB Trier (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Telekom Baskets will play against Phoenix Hagen (#15) and hope to win that game.
