Regular Season Round 11: Braunschweig - Crailsheim 89-73
Date: November 30, 2014
Very expected game when 18th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (1-9) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Braunschweig (3-7) 89-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Braunschweig. Crailsheim Merlins was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Braunschweig shot 64.3 percent from the field. Braunschweig had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Dru Joyce (183-85, college: Akron, agency: LUMANI 10.7) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. American swingman Sean Mosley (192-89, college: Maryland) answered with 19 points and power forward Jannik Freese (211-86, agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Braunschweig went down to fourteenth position due to points difference. Crailsheim Merlins lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Braunschweig will face higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#13) in Frankfurt in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Crailsheim Merlins will play at home against ratiopharm Ulm (#7) and hope to win that game.
