There was no surprise in Viernheim where 9th ranked TSV Amicitia (3-7) was outplayed by top-ranked Gruner Stern Keltern (10-0) 77-50 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gruner Stern Keltern. TSV Amicitia was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gruner Stern Keltern held TSV Amicitia to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Forward Ana-Maria Kammer (180-86) scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Melissa Zornig (177-92, college: UCSB) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Gruner Stern Keltern players scored in double figures. Gruner Stern Keltern's coach Peter Kortmann felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Canadian center Diane Schuetze (190-90) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Jeanne Wilson (190) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Gruner Stern Keltern have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 10-0 record. Loser TSV Amicitia keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Gruner Stern Keltern will face BasCats Heidelberg (#4) at home in the next round. TSV Amicitia will play against Trier (#12) and hope to win that game.
