Rather predictable result when third ranked Raiffeisen Wels (10-4) beat at home 6th ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (6-8) 74-64 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-64. Raiffeisen Wels had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Davor Lamesic (205-83, agency: Interperformances) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. Four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Serbian point guard Bogic Vujosevic (189-92, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 10 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and naturalized American power forward Jason Johnson (202-77, college: Tennessee St.) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Raiffeisen Wels have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Gmunden. Loser Redwell Gunners Oberwart dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Raiffeisen Wels will face UBSC Graz (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play against Kapfenberg Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
