Very expected game when 14th ranked JAZZ-Diremta (1-18) lost to second ranked Perlas-MRU (15-4) in Kaunas 81-96 on Friday. The game without a history. Perlas-MRU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Perlas-MRU forced 21 JAZZ-Diremta turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by JAZZ-Diremta's players. JAZZ-Diremta was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Dominykas Domarkas (188-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Antanas Udras (203-92) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. American guard Malcolm Hawkins (196-91, college: Norfolk St.) answered with 17 points and point guard Renaldas Simanavicius (184-92) added 13 points in the effort for JAZZ-Diremta. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Perlas-MRU. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Ezerunas-Karys. Loser JAZZ-Diremta stay dead last with 18 lost games. Perlas-MRU will face Nafta-Uni. (#7) in Klaipeda in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. JAZZ-Diremta will play on the road against Petrochema (#3) in Jonava and hope to win that game.
