Regular Season Round 9: Eskisehir Basket - Torku Konyaspor 68-89
Date: December 6, 2014
Very expected game when 16th ranked Eskisehir Basket (1-8) was smashed by seventh ranked Torku Konyaspor (6-3) in Edirne 89-68. The game was mostly controlled by Torku Konyaspor. Eskisehir Basket was better in third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torku Konyaspor shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was American point guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. His fellow American import guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 21 points. Four Torku Konyaspor players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Matt Walsh (197-82, college: Florida) who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds and American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) added 5 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Torku Konyaspor have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Eskisehir Basket lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Torku Konyaspor's next round opponent will be league's leader Darussafaka in Istanbul and it will be for sure the game of the week. Eskisehir Basket will play on the road against Anadolu Efes (#5) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
