A very interesting game took place in Bayreuth. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (7-4) to ninth ranked BBC Bayreuth (6-6) 88-85 on Saturday evening. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-22 Mitteldeutscher BC's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 88-85 at the end of the game. BBC Bayreuth made 29-of-38 charity shots (76.3 percent) during the game, while Mitteldeutscher BC only scored twelve points from the stripe. They outrebounded Mitteldeutscher BC 31-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. 32 personal fouls committed by Mitteldeutscher BC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Javon McCrea (201-92, college: Buffalo) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (184-87, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: KMG Sports Management) replied with 32 points and Icelandic guard Hoerdur Vilhjalmsson (190-88) added 17 points in the effort for Mitteldeutscher BC. Mitteldeutscher BC's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Telekom Bsk. Mitteldeutscher BC at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. BBC Bayreuth's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
