Regular Season Round 14: Timisoara - Sf.Gheorghe 43-73

The game in Timisoara supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Sf.Gheorghe (12-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Timisoara (7-7). Sf.Gheorghe smashed Timisoara 73-43 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sf.Gheorghe. Timisoara managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timisoara to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Timisoara 39-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. American power forward Stefanie Murphy (192-89, college: Boston Coll.) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Taneisha Harrison (182-89, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Serbian center Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) responded with 11 points and Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sf.Gheorghe have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Targoviste. Loser Timisoara dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Brasov. Sf.Gheorghe will meet at home Targu Mures (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timisoara will play against ICIM Arad and hope to secure a win.
