Very expected game when 11th ranked Mamak DSI (3-7) lost on the road to fifth ranked Akhisar Bld (7-3) 69-59 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Akhisar Bld dominated on the defensive end, holding Mamak DSI to just 7 points in second quarter. Quite impressive performance for center Hakan Yapar (202-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Lance Goulbourne (203-89, college: Vanderbilt) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Hakan Erol (200-83) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Mamak DSI. Akhisar Bld have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Balikesir. Loser Mamak DSI dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Akhisar Bld will face Gediz (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Mamak DSI will play against Istanbul DSI and hope to win that game.
