Regular Season Round 12: Crailsheim - Ratiopharm 80-88

Date: December 6, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 18th ranked Crailsheim Merlins (1-11) were defeated at home by seventh ranked ratiopharm Ulm (8-4) 88-80 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Crailsheim Merlins won second period 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ratiopharm Ulm made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Boris Savovic (206-87, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and Slovenian guard Jaka Klobucar (198-87) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. ratiopharm Ulm's coach Thorsten Leibenath used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Beo Basket) with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Jannik Freese (211-86, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. ratiopharm Ulm have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Art.Dragons. Crailsheim Merlins lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. ratiopharm Ulm will face Artland Dragons (#5) in Quakenbrueck in the next round. Crailsheim Merlins will play on the road against Brose Baskets (#4) in Bamberg and hope to win that game.
