Sixteenth-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (2-11) made lots of trouble for tenth ranked SC Rasta Vechta (7-6) in Allmendingen on Saturday. The visitors from Vechta managed to secure only three-point victory 93-90. However their fans expected much easier game. SC Rasta Vechta made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 assists for the winners and guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 25 points. At the losing side forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Devon Moore (193-89, college: JMU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 assists and 5 steals. Five Ehingen/Urspringschule players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SC Rasta Vechta have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Heidelberg. Loser Ehingen/Urspringschule stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. They share it with Cuxhaven. SC Rasta Vechta will meet at home BV Chemnitz 99 (#9) in the next round. Ehingen/Urspringschule will play against Nuernberg (#5) in Nurnberg and hope to secure a win.
