Regular Season Round 14: Galati - Alba Iulia 78-74

The most important game in the last round took place in Galati between third ranked Alba Iulia (11-3) and sixth ranked Galati (9-5) on Saturday night. Alba Iulia was defeated by Galati in a tough game on the road 74-78. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Alba Iulia. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But Alba Iulia won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galati well out of reach of Alba Iulia shooting 70.7 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Chelsey Lee (193-89, college: Rutgers) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). International point guard Gabriela Cursaru (169-92) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. Canadian power forward Wumi Agunbiade (188-92, college: Duquesne) produced 17 points and 5 assists and American forward Jessica Kuster (188-92, college: Rice) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Alba Iulia players scored in double figures. Galati have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 9-5 record. Alba Iulia at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Galati are looking forward to face Satu Mare (#10) on the road in the next round. Alba Iulia will play against Brasov (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
