Regular Season Round 12: Ruta-Univ. - Fortuna 62-81

Bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to fifth ranked Fortuna (7-5) 81-62 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Fortuna. Ruta-Univ. managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ruta-Univ. 53-22 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by international Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds and the former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) supported her with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by forward Silvija Kuodiene (180-81) did not help to save the game for Ruta-Univ.. American guard Indre Mikelenaite (175, college: Florida Southern) added 17 points. Fortuna moved-up to third place, which they share with Aistes-LSU and Kibirkstis-VICI. Loser Ruta-Univ. still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Fortuna will meet at home Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#6) in the next round. Ruta-Univ. will have a break next round.
