Regular Season Round 7: Dnipro-DVUFK - Avangard 73-81

Higher League top team - Avangard (8-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Dnipro-DVUFK (2-8) in Dnepropetrovsk 81-73. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dnipro-DVUFK won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avangard forced 24 Dnipro-DVUFK turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Maxim Balashov (190-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 assists. The former international center Volodymyr Gurtovyy (207-75) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Avangard's coach Andrei Podkovyrov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Andrii Myronenko (198-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and forward Yaroslav Tarapata (194-95) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Dnipro-DVUFK players scored in double figures. Avangard have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-2 record. Dnipro-DVUFK lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Avangard will play against Zolotoi Vek (#3) in Kirovograd in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dnipro-DVUFK will have a break next round.
