No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Hamburg (8-5) defeated at home 9th ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (6-7) 88-83 on Sunday. Hamburg shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Canadian swingman Terry Thomas (193-91) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Hamburg's coach Hamed Attarbashi used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Andre Calvin (201-85, college: Drake) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Stacy Wilson (190-90, college: Murray St.) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. Hamburg moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nuernberg. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Jena and Kirchheim. Hamburg will meet Science City Jena (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against SC Rasta Vechta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
