Regular Season Round 15: Ferro-ZNTU - Mykolaiv 79-77

The most exciting game of round 15 in the Superleague took place in Zaporozhye. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Mykolaiv (8-5) to sixth ranked Ferro-ZNTU (7-6) 79-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mykolaiv. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 42-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ferro-ZNTU dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Mykolaiv's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Mykolaiv helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Maks Adam Konate (200-91) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Forward Yakov Zmitrovich (200-84) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dmitro Ilchenko (204-95) who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Pavlo Burenko (184-90) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively. Ferro-ZNTU have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cherkasy. Mykolaiv at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Ferro-ZNTU will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mykolaiv will play on the road against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk in Kyiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
