Undefeated Galatasaray (6-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (5-2) 62-55. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Galatasaray. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Galatasaray won second period 15-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Galatasaray 45-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import guard Shenise Johnson (181-90, college: Miami, FL) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Sebnem Nezahat Kimyacioglu (182-83, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) produced 16 points and international center Nevriye Yilmaz (194-80) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Istanbul Universitesi maintains fourth place with 5-2 record. Defending champion Galatasaray keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Abdullah Gul. Istanbul Universitesi are looking forward to face Botas (#5) in Adana in the next round. Galatasaray will play against Osmaniye and is hoping to win this game.
