Very expected game when 13th ranked ITU Istanbul (3-8) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Balikesir (8-3) 79-69. The game was mostly controlled by Balikesir. ITU Istanbul was better in fourth quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aubrey Coleman (193-87, college: Houston) accounted for 21 points for the winning side. Balikesir's coach Mete Babaoglu allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and guard Onur Sonsirma (190-85, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 14 points respectively for ITU Istanbul in the defeat. Balikesir maintains fourth place with 8-3 record, which they share with Akhisar Bld. ITU Istanbul at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Balikesir will play against Afyon (#17) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round which should be an easy win for them. ITU Istanbul will play on the road against Meliksah (#12) in Kayseri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
