Regular Season Round 11: Mamak DSI - Istanbul DSI 70-81

There was a small surprise in Ankara where seventeenth ranked Istanbul DSI (3-8) won against 14th ranked Mamak DSI (3-8) 81-70. Mamak DSI was ahead by 14 points after three quarters before a 34-9 charge of Istanbul DSI, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Mamak DSI 36-25 including 22 on the defensive glass. Mamak DSI was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Hasan Karabulut (202-84) accounted for 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. Istanbul DSI's coach Ali Burgul allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international swingman Rifat Murat Kaya (194-84, agency: 1x1 Sports) came up with 17 points and American point guard Lamar Karim (178-83, college: So.Poly State) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Mamak DSI in the defeat. Istanbul DSI moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Mamak DSI. Istanbul DSI will play against higher ranked Gediz (#9) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mamak DSI will play against Adanaspor (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
