Regular Season Round 10: Balkan - Spartak Pleven 107-69

Bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-69 loss to third ranked Balkan (7-2) in Botevgrad. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game without a history. Balkan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 36. Balkan players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian center Nenad Sulovic (202-85, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international Pavel Marinov (199-88, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Balkan players scored in double figures. Balkan's coach Aleksandar Todorov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Mihail Tanev (200-90) replied with 19 points and the former international power forward Ivan Tilev (204-79) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Spartak Pleven. Balkan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Levski Sofia. Spartak Pleven at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Balkan will play against league's leader Lukoil Acad. in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spartak Pleven will play at home against Rilski (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
