Regular Season Round 8: Lusitania - CAB Madeira 62-67

Date: December 13, 2014
An interesting game took place in Angra where higher ranked Lusitania (4-4) was upset on its own court by ninth ranked CAB Madeira (3-4) 67-62. It looked good early as Lusitania took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then CAB Madeira had a 23-10 second period charge getting the lead and Lusitania was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-67. Strangely Lusitania outrebounded CAB Madeira 49-27 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard Jordan Aaron (178-92, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who scored that evening 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Tommie Eddie (201-82, college: Mississippi) supported him with 21 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds by American center Blake Poole (196-88, college: St.Martin's) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. Forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. CAB Madeira moved-up to eighth place. Lusitania at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Oliveirense and Maia Basket. CAB Madeira will play against Sampaense (#9) in Coimbra in the next round. Lusitania will play on the road against Vitoria SC (#3) in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
