There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Oldenburg (6-7) defeated at home higher ranked Itzehoe (7-6) 75-61 on Saturday. Oldenburg dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Itzehoe's 22. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Jan Niklas Wimberg (204-96) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Preston Wynne (184-87, college: Vanguard) who added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Oldenburg players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) with 23 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jeffrey Wherry (175, college: Stillman) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Oldenburg moved-up to seventh place in Group North, which they share with 3 other teams. Itzehoe lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the third position with six games lost. Oldenburg will face higher ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Itzehoe will play against Recklinghausen and hope to win that game.
