Regular Season Round 12: Speyer - Karlsruhe 86-76

Date: December 13, 2014
Very important is a road loss of third ranked BG Karlsruhe (7-5) against twelfth ranked Speyer (3-9) on Saturday night. Visiting BG Karlsruhe was defeated by Speyer in Speyer 86-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BG Karlsruhe. Worth to mention a great performance of American Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Smallwood is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was British forward Robert Gilchrist (206-90, college: Florida St.) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and American forward George Goode (205-88, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) scored 10 points. Four BG Karlsruhe players scored in double figures. BG Karlsruhe's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Speyer moved-up to eleventh place in Group South. Loser BG Karlsruhe dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Speyer will face higher ranked White Wings (#8) in Hanau in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. BG Karlsruhe will play at home against Licher Basket (#9) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
