Regular Season Round 11: Mersin - Meliksah 53-67

Everything went according to plan in Akdeniz where fifteenth ranked Meliksah (4-7) beat bottom-ranked Mersin (2-9) 67-53. The game was mostly controlled by Meliksah. Mersin was better in third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meliksah forced 21 Mersin turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee services) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Leemire Goldwire (182-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) accounted for 16 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Four Meliksah players scored in double figures. American guard Henry Antwan Dobie (183-78, college: LIU Brooklyn) came up with 16 points and 7 assists and forward Hakan Uskuplu (200-83) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Mersin in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meliksah moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Final Genclik. Mersin at the other side stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. They share it with Afyon. Meliksah will play against ITU Istanbul (#16) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mersin will play against Pertevniyal in Istanbul and hopes to get back on the winning track.
