Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Mersin (5-3) won against at home 8th ranked Orduspor (3-5) 71-63 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Orduspor won third quarter 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Orduspor 37-21 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Mersin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. The winners were led by Hungarian center Dora Horti (193-87, agency: 1x1 Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP, agency: Merit Management Group) supported her with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Even 11 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Orduspor. Montenegrin power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83, agency: Fly Basketball) added 18 points for the guests. Mersin have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Besiktas. Loser Orduspor dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Edirne. Mersin will meet at home Edirne (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Orduspor will play against Canik Bld and hope to secure a win.
