Very important is a home loss of third ranked Fortuna (7-6) against sixth ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (4-9) on Saturday night. Host Fortuna was defeated by Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas in a tough game in Klaipeda 66-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-10. But Fortuna won third quarter 26-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 27 Fortuna turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Fortuna was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winning side and the former international guard Rasa Zemantauskaite-Matla (176-81) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) came up with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and international swingman Marina Solopova (180-90) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for Fortuna in the defeat. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas maintains sixth place with 4-9 record, which they share with Jaunieji Talentai. Fortuna at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Aistes-LSU and Kibirkstis-VICI. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will play against bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. (#8) in Siauliai in the next round. Fortuna will play on the road against Aistes-LSU (#4) in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
