Regular Season Round 8: Istanbul Univ. - Botas 84-51
Date: December 14, 2014
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (6-2) crushed at home 7th ranked Botas (4-4) 84-51 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Botas managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Botas to just 5 points in fourth quarter. The winners were led by American guard Shenise Johnson (181-90, college: Miami, FL) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Lithuanian guard Kamile Nacickaite (181-89, college: Drexel) supported her with 22 points and 4 steals. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 5 steals by American-Armenian swingman Quianna Chaney (180-86, college: LSU) did not help to save the game for Botas. American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) added 8 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Istanbul Universitesi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Loser Botas keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Adana ASKI and Canik Bld. Istanbul Universitesi will meet Hatay (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Botas will play against Osmaniye (#14) and hope to secure a win.
