Very expected game when 15th ranked Istanbul BSB (2-9) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Trabzonspor (5-6) 78-69 on Saturday. Istanbul BSB was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 7-point lead after three quarters before a 24-8 charge of Trabzonspor, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian forward Novica Velickovic (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. American-Congolese point guard Dwight Hardy (188-87, college: St.John's) chipped in 16 points. American power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American-Bosnian guard Zack Wright (191-85, college: Central Mo.) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Five Trabzonspor and four Istanbul BSB players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Trabzonspor. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Turk Telekom and TED Kolejliler. Istanbul BSB lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with nine games lost. Trabzonspor will face TED Kolejliler (#10) in Ankara in the next round. Istanbul BSB will play on the road against Tofas (#12) in Bursa and hope to win that game.
