Regular Season Round 24: Perlas-MRU - Ezerunas-Karys 82-86

The biggest surprise of round 24 took place in Vilnius where guest Ezerunas-Karys (#1) beat lower ranked Perlas-MRU (#2) by 4 points 86-82 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Perlas-MRU was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Ezerunas-Karys shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Perlas-MRU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Deividas Kumelis (190-95) chipped in 11 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Antanas Udras (203-92) who recorded 30 points and 9 rebounds and guard Dominykas Domarkas (188-92) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists respectively. Five Ezerunas-Karys and four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU's coach Mindaugas Sakalauskas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ezerunas-Karys have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-5 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost. Ezerunas-Karys are looking forward to face Zanavykas (#9) in Sakiai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Perlas-MRU will play at home against Silute (#12) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
