There was a minor upset in Hanau where 8th ranked White Wings (5-8) were defeated by eleventh ranked Speyer (4-9) 74-69 on Saturday. American forward Marcus Ware (203-91, college: Niagara) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Smallwood attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. American guard Cardell McFarland (182-87, college: Ky Wesleyan) produced 23 points and 8 assists and center Joleik Schaffrath (206-88) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Speyer moved-up to ninth place in Group South, which they share with Langen and Licher Baeren. Loser White Wings keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
